My sister shared with us a recipe card that our mother had
written. It includes modifications that
Jane had made.
Oven Stew
Layer in roaster or dutch oven:
2 lbs. cubed beef
1 large onion, sliced
6 ribs celery, cut into bite-sized pieces
8 carrots, cut into bite-sized pieces

Sprinkle on top:
3 tsp. salt
2 Tbsp. sugar
4 tsp. minute tapioca

4 tsp. minute tapioca
Mix together and pour over top:
2 1/2 C. tomato juice
2 Tbsp. soy sauce
2 1/2 C. tomato juice
2 Tbsp. soy sauce
Cover and bake at 250º for at least 4 hours.
Peel and cut 4 or 5 potatoes into bite-size pieces. Add to
stew; cover and bake 1 hour longer.
